This faux fireplace is thought to have been used to hide prisoners behind. Some think the slaves were hidden there by the underground railroad.

This room shows what the accomodations were like. The bucket was thier toilet. Not like the 5 star hotels we call prisons today.

This door which is located in the kitchen area of the dungeon is actually the entrance to an underground tunnel system that runs all over the downtown area of Chambersburg. No one knows for sure what they were used for, but speculation says either for the underground railroad or to move important people throught the town without being detected.
